Happy New Year 2019 to all our members and their families.
Thanks to all the activity leaders who have already contributed items to this quarter's programme. A quick glance today shows Len leading the way with six activities! However, all contributors to the programme are to be congratulated on the variety of walks and social events that they have planned.
Nevertheless I would call on all past walk leaders to think about adding an item this quarter as the programme does have three weekends where there are NO walks.
Thanks to everyone that contributed to making this a great party, especially (in alphabetical order) Catharina, Connie, Diane and Steve who organised the food and set up the venue, as well as Charles who provided the Christmas themed music and drew the door prizes.
Approximately 45 people attended including new and long-standing members, young and not so young, regular and not so regular walkers, in short a great cross-section of our membership. I think it would be fair to say that a good time was had by all.
This is a request for someone to represent the club at the next Bushwalking NSW meeting to be held at Redfern Town Hall at 7pm on Tuesday 20th November.
I'm unavailable that evening and would be grateful if someone could go in my place and report back on anything of interest to the club that transpires.
If you are interested please email club@anbwalkers.org.au
thank you in advance
The following were the highlights from the ANB Committee meeting held on Tuesday 23rd October:
- futher discussion of club Christmas party arrangements for 1st December
- decision to continue to send a club representative to the quarterly Bushwalking NSW meetings where possible
- decision to support the review by Bushwalking NSW of the cap on the membership fees placed upon the larger clubs
We have already had one member volunteer to help organise the club Christmas Party on December 1st. This is very much appreciated. However it would be good to have another couple of people to help her out.
It could involve as little as calling the picnic site in advance of the party to ensure we have access to toilets or it could involve as much as ordering and collecting the salads. Whatever you can offer in the way of assistance, the club will be very grateful.
The committee is seeking help to organise the All Nations Bushwalkers annual party that is already booked to be held in Rhodes from 4pm on Saturday 1st December. Four people would probably be sufficient.
Please contact one of the committee or email club@anbwalkers.org.au if you are planning on coming to the party and think you could help . The committee has agreed on a budget for you to buy salads and rolls plus any additional party items that you might think appropriate.
A big thank you to Paul Monaghan who volunteered to be the All Nations Bushwalkers representative at the recent Bushwalking NSW AGM, for which he has already provided a report to this news feed.
The prelude to the meeting had a talk and some interesting photos from Meg McKone on the West MacDonnells ranges.
