    A short beach walk before ascending via bush tracks & fire trail to Warrah Lookout for superb water views of the Hawkesbury River mouth & Pittwater.

    The walk is then mainly on fire trails with water views from the dry, rocky & open ridge line after the coastal cliffs above Patonga.

    The last part of the walk is 3km. on urban streets to Woy Woy.

    Enjoy a ferry trip from Brooklyn, morning tea at the island cafe and a walk around the quiet village on sealed roads, sans cars.

    We will take a side trip to walk along Bradley's Beach and a short walk in bushland up to Kiparra Park, on the top of the island, for great views.

    Details:

    This classic walk, takes us around the Manly Dam, once the source of Sydney's water.  Great variety of tracks and bush, we should time it to see the bountiful spring flowers and usually plenty of birds, lizards etc.  

    The track is easy going, one or two little hills but given the short distance should be very manageable.  

    If you have never been on the track, its a great one to do.  

    Public transport options will be availabe by bus or there is easy free parking outside of the dam.

    Details:

    This walk will commence after 7pm and will finish the in the early hours of the morning.

    We will follow the Smuglers Ridge bush track to Marramarra Creek and then return on the fire trail. As we will be walking in the dark, a head torch will be required. However as the moon will be quite bright we will try to walk as much as possible without using torches.

    We will have supper at Marramarra creek and hopefully light a camp fire, where people can toast marshmallows and partake in a tipple of choice. Bring your own supper and tipple!

    Car pooling will be organised to and from the start.

    Details:

    Off the beaten track in the Marramarra National Park, Smugglers Ridge offers scenic views down into the Marramarra creek, a tributry of Berowra Creek.  

    First part of the walk is along a fire trail which is easy walking but does have a steep section at the end where we drop into the valley.  We will break for lunch at the campground before the climb back up along a pleasant bush track to the start. 

    No public transport so we will need to carpool. We will met at Pennant Hills Station and it is a 30 min drive from there.  Last part of the road is a little bumpy so prefer to have cars with good clearance.

    Details:

    The Bob Turner track affords easy access to the Colo River on a  well maintained track. From the Colo though we will follow the river upstream to Mailes cave. This section is all off track, but will have sections of foot pads along the way.

    This will be a good opertunity to experience the Colo River gorge as well as some interesting rock hopping and bush scrambling.

    This walk is only accessible by car and a car pool will be arranged from Hornsby station.

    The reserve is known for it's wildflowers in Spring.

    There are a series of walks on fire trails and we will walk most  of them.

    They include Lloyd trig, Deerubbin Lookover, Peats Crater, ( the most strenuous, descent 214 metres, & return, 5km), Tipper's Lookout and Point Lookout.

    Deerubbin and Tipper's have very good views of the Hawkesbury River, and east to Brooklyn.

    Peats Crater is a volcanic diatreme.

    There is a cash only entry fee per person of $15, no concessions.

    We will meet at Springwood Train Station and slowly descend the valley to the Glenbrook Creek passing through the deep bushland full of turpentine trees.  A stop for morning tea will be had at Glenbrook Creek.  After following the creek for a few kilometres, we then start the steep ascent to Martins Lookout.  The view out over the valley is worth the climb and makes a great spot for lunch.  A quick descent down before rejoining the Sassafras track slowly climbing back up to Springwood station.  A lovely stretch of track passing several waterfalls crossing the creek numerous times.

    The walk is a short distance from Gosford railway station on urban streets, then a mixture of bush tracks and fire trails.

    Rhumbalara Reserve has larger than life bronze sculptures of early explorers such as John Eyre.

    We will see a variety of trees, from Sydney Blue Gums, Blackbutt, Smooth-barked Apple, Ironbark & rainforest types, including Strangler Figs.

    If we are lucky, the Green Catbird maycall, or be seen in the rainforest at Seymour Pond.

    Other birds throughout the reserves areKookaburras, Rainbow Lorikeets, Eastern Rosellas, Black, Cockatoos and Magpies.

    I’ve booked to go on this 6-day guided walk and would love some familiar faces to join me. It’s one of the classic Australian bushwalks, through the heart of Tasmania’s World Heritage wilderness, from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair. It winds through dolerite mountains, alpine buttongrass plains, and temperate rainforest and takes in some of Tasmania’s most iconic scenery. Accommodation is in tents and three meals a day are supplied.
