Car pooling or public buses and a ferry are required for this walk. Summary of walk:  Coffee at Church Point before boarding ferry to Elvina Bay South. Walking on fire trail, past an historic grave and a Swiss Chalet to the base of a waterfall. Further on we cross a creek on slippery rocks, where care is needed. The pool here could be used for a refreshing dip. Bush tracks made by relief workers in the 1930s lead a zigzag course up to Birnie Lookout via a cave with a table and seat. Excellent views over Pittwater from the lookout. A bush track, sometimes swampy, leads to the fire trail and a lookout with views over Pittwater and Towlers Bay. A bush track is then used to pass the rear of the Youth Hostel and then to a fire trail to our return ferry at Hall's Wharf. Swimming is possible here if we are either too early or have just missed the ferry.
