Wallarah Peninsula Coastal Circuit Walk - Sunday 6 August 2023

Starting from Caves Beach we followed the Coastal Track to Pinney's Headland then we headed west through the forest taking the Scenic Fire Trail trudging on muddy bush tracks and fire trails and then it was a very very steep climb up to the Old Pacific Highway then it was over the M1 Motorway and down to Murray's Beach on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie for a relaxing lunch.  We then headed back over the M1 Motorway to meet up with the Yondeo Trail walking through beautiful and very scenic bushland to then meet up with the Coastal Track with a very scenic trek along the ocean ridgeline back to Caves Beach.  Fortunately we only had a drizzle of rain and then it cleared to cloudy skies so pleasant bushwalking weather.  A special mention to our old friend Nick Collins who was visiting from sunny Qld and joined us on our walk - it was great seeing Nick again as he is missed and was one of our stellar walk leaders!
