FULL - Great North Road Convict Trail - Wisemans Ferry
At Wisemans Ferry we take the car ferry (as a walk-on passenger) to the other side of the Hawkesbury River and then it is a short walk to the Convict Trail Gates. The Convict Trail (also known as Devine’s Hill) is a bushwalk with a difference. It takes you along the Old Great North Road, an amazing feat of engineering that was built by convicts in the 1830s to link Sydney with the Hunter Region. What really makes this walk special is the information panels along the way which bring the history to life. There is a mixture of factual information and engaging stories about the lives of individual convicts. This is an out and back walk (2km up and 2km down on an easy walking trail). The walk will be followed by lunch at the Wisemans Ferry Inn (established in 1827). Please note your own transport will be required for this activity. When registering please provide your membership number and mobile phone number.
