A walk on fire trails, beaches and bush tracks to West Head lookout for extensive views of Pittwater and the coast. We then descend on a well-graded path to steel ladders and down them to the WWII bunkers and searchlight site. These ladders have to be ascended and will be one of the physically hardest aspects of the walk. Bush tracks will then be followed, via Resolute Picnic Ground, to the lookout at the end of the Koolewong Track for views of the Hawkesbury River mouth. We return to the Resolute Picnic Ground and visit the aboriginal hand stencils nearby before returning to Mackerel Beach and ascending the fire trail to our cars. The car pool cost to each participant (based on 3 cars and 12 participants) is $9 including park entry fees. Please supply your membership number and mobile number when booking.
