Davistown Illoura Reserve History Walk Central Coast - Sunday 22 March 2020
I so enjoy organising our historic walks and this one exceeded expectations. We had the most beautiful weather, blue skies, lots of sun and wonderful company! Our day started with a very relaxing ferry ride from Woy Woy to the Veterans Hill Ferry Wharf. From here we disembarked and took a little detour (thanks to Len's knowledge) up to the Mount Pleasant Lookout. This was an easy walk on a well laid out fire trail to the top where we were welcomed with the most stunning views over the Brisbane Waters and Central Coast (a little hidden gem). After taking in the 'pleasant' outlook we descended back down to continue to the start of our historic walk. After a 'snippet' of road walking and chatting to some very friendly locals we were at the reserve water's edge where we meandered along taking in the sights and learning all about the history of Davistown. We then sought out the Little Teapot Cafe where a sit down in the garden under the shade of the trees was most welcome. After a most enjoyable lunch (I can highly recommend the lemon meringue pie!) we then made our way back to the water reserve to complete our history lesson. From the Pines Ave Ferry Wharf we all embarked for another very pleasant and relaxing ferry ride back to Woy Woy. Taking in the sights and enjoying the history walk were Leah, Michele, Len, Tim, Robert, Pan, Evelyn and Eirlys. Hope you enjoy the photos!
