We use two historic roads (Lawson's Long Alley & Lockyer's Road) to complete a circular walk from the Mount York plateau to Hartley Vale.

These roads were constructed in 1822-23 and 1828-29 respectively.

They provided access to the west from Sydney and are now only walking tracks.

We may have time to visit the Comet Inn and the abandoned shale oil mine in the valley.
