Rogaining is a competitive team activity in which you use a map (supplied on the day) and a compass (your own) to find controls (worth points) over a designated area (as indicated on map) within a specific timeframe (in this case: 6 hours). Think of it as a treasure hunt for bushwalkers. The Metrogaine, as the name implies, is usually held within an urban area and is a great way to become familiar with the sport and acquire some basic navigation skills.  No experience is necessary and all participants take part in a team of 2-5 people.

Next year's event will start at 11:00am from the Baden Powell Scout Centre, Pomona Street, Pennant Hills. The event course will include nearby sections of Lane Cove NP, Lane Cove River as well as nearby suburbs.  Further details on cost (there is an entry fee) and other arrangements will be made available closer to the date by the organisers, Rogaining NSW.

Please contact me by 23 February if you are interested in being part of an ANB team.
